Wheel Bearing Adapter Tophats are something we consider to be a ‘problem solver’. A very simple part that solves a big problem. A problem that takes an exacting fit! When it comes to custom motorcycles and choppers, it is common to be mixing and matching parts that did not originally go together. Perhaps it is for style, or perhaps it is just because it is what you already have laying around.
These bearing adapter tophats are machined to very tight tolerances. They slip inside the wheel bearing, and allow for a smaller size axle to be safely run. This is much easier than trying to find the proper diameter and thickness bearing with a different inside diameter. Much easier, because in many cases, such a bearing may not exist!
Examples: Wheel Bearing Adapter Tophats allow a custom 21″ spool wheel with 3/4″ bearings to be run on a Harley 45 Flathead springer with a 5/8″ axle. Or to use a later Harley rear wheel with 1″ ID wheel bearings along with a 3/4″ axle on an earlier frame.
